Ps Confessions. From Paris.

I confess. I had no memory of MCHammer's famous album "To Legit to quit", until the WSJ pointed him out in today's article.

I'm a girl singularly devoted to 70's classic music. Don Henley and Eagles didn't have silly pants.

By the way. What does a saggy diaper sound like? I'm afraid it sounds like harem pants.

Paris reviews a saggy diaper pants.

FRONT page of today's WJS featured a review of 'harem pants', as one of fall's hottest fashion trends. MCHammer-Hammertime-pants. Pants that are guaranteed to make even Gisele's butt look big, are a FASHION TREND?

"On fashion blogs, these bloomers are being likened to a potato bag, a saggy diaper, and a tablecloth knotted between the legs." (how do you spell ugly?)

..."This fall, harem pants have been selling briskly (nonsense+bad taste=harem pants)

According to the article, some harem pants fans explain they "enjoy the novelty of the trend and even revel in the ridicule they invite." (the people who are wearing harem pants are attention seeking)

These pants are a freak fad, NOT 'legit', and should quit.

The Backlash Begins

Signs of the long-dreaded backlash against Muslim Americans have begun to appear, despite the efforts of the liberal media to portray Nidal Malik Hasan as the victim of his own excessive empathy. The Danville Express reports:

Police arrested 22-year-old Abdul Walid Hamid of Hayward on the evening of Wednesday, Nov. 4, after he reportedly tore a crucifix from a person's neck and scared others at Stoneridge Shopping Center.

Hamid, an employee at a mall kiosk near Starbucks, has been charged with battery, terrorist threats and grand theft.

According to reports, Hamid was yelling "Allah is power" and "Islam is great" while holding a pen in a fist over his head. Witnesses said he shouted anti-Christian comments, said police.

Lt. Mike Elerick of the Pleasanton Police Department said the man was not provoked and didn't threaten violence, but he committed robbery when he grabbed and broke a crucifix off someone's neck.

Oh, wait--never mind. Wrong backlash.

    Very Impressive and very misleading

The Splendor of Greenland's Ice Sheet Crumbling AwayAll melting has resulted in the sea level rising about .46 millimeters per year, on average.  That is .015 inch per year or 3/4 of an inch per 50 years.

If that is a problem it is still not that simple.  Scandinavia has risen over a meter since Kepler’s time, other parts of the planet have sunk.

Going back to what did not work

    Khalid Sheikh Mohammed

Eric Holder will announce that five top terrorists, including Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, will be prosecuted and tried in federal court in New York City. This is, of course, the logical consequence of treating terrorist attacks as crimes rather than as asymmetrical warfare.

The potential for these trials to turn into fiascoes is large; perhaps President Obama and his Attorney General have forgotten the "political" trials of the 1960s and 70s. But they seem committed to returning to the pre-September 11 model of treating terrorism as a law enforcement matter, regardless of the consequences.

Ask yourself this question: suppose that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed's trial results in an acquittal or a hung jury. Would the Obama administration really let him go? If so, they are crazy. If not, why are they holding the trial?

If you were about to recommend a troop increase that was unpopular, especially with your Democratic base, wouldn’t you precede it with some drama like this to demonstrate that you are a) in charge, b) not being conned, and c) insistent on a withdrawal as quickly as possible? Just asking.”

Following up on Wednesday's post, 100+% Implicit Marginal Tax Rates Will Create Permanent Democratic Majority:  Greg Mankiw blogs The Poverty Trap:

Chapter 20 of my favorite textbook has a section on antipoverty programs and work incentives. One basic point is that when multiple income-based programs are piled on top on one another, the implicit marginal tax rate can reach or even exceed 100 percent.
