President Obama has suggested that the distrust Israelis feel towards him is due in part to his middle name. Obama said that "some of [the anxiety] may just be the fact that my middle name is Hussein, and that creates suspicion."
Obama overlooks the fact that , prior to Obama's first meeting with Prime Minister Netanyahu, only 14 percent of Israelis considered him more pro-Palestinian than pro-Israeli. After that meeting, and when Obama insisted that Israel not engage in even "natural growth" construction in its established settlements, the number jumped to 55 percent.
LAWLESSNESS AT THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE? Voting Section Told Not To Enforce Purging the Dead or Ineligible from Voting Rolls.
The Columbus-based family owned restaurant chain – known for serving small square hamburgers called “sliders” – says a single provision in the bill will eat up roughly 55 percent of its yearly net income after 2014.
Starting that year, the bill levies a $3,000-per-employee penalty on companies whose workers pay more than 9.5 percent of household income in premiums for company-provided insurance.
White Castle, which currently provides insurance to all of its full-time workers and picks up 70 to 89 percent of their premium costs, believes it will likely end up paying those penalties. The financial hit will make it hard for the company to maintain its 421 restaurants, let alone create new jobs, says company spokesman Jamie Richardson. White Castle employs more than 10,000 people nationwide, and more than 1,200 in Ohio.
IS THE “TANNING TAX” racist? Absolutely! I mean, open your eyes, people.
More on Does the New 10% Tanning Tax Discriminate Against Whites?Following up on my previous post, Does New 10% Tanning Tax Discriminate Against Whites? (Mar. 25, 2010): Frank Pasquale (Seton Hall), Disparate Impact and the Tanning Tax:
Washington Post, 'Tan Tax' Discussions Include Allegations of Reverse Racism: "When an article about the fallout from the tax — which took effect last week — appeared on the Washington Post’s Web site Wednesday, dozens of commenters questioned the tax’s legality. The case can seem deceptively simple: Since patrons of tanning salons are almost exclusively white, the tax will be almost entirely paid by white people and, therefore, violates their constitutional right to equal protection under the law."
There is a pattern emerging. Won’t review complaints of whites on black panther voting intimidation, will take up black complaints about a jury verdict in California or a black’s professor’s allegations about the police in Massachusetts.
This is a 556-hp, rear-wheel-drive Cadillac. It has two doors, six speeds, and enough grunt to yank the moon out of orbit. It is everything we are supposed to want in an American car. One question: Is it any good?
I have one word for you: Duh.
It has taken the British 60 years to get the decision making back int he hands of the Doctors. Don't let it happen here.
The Telegraph headlines: "Biggest revolution in the NHS for 60 years." What's the change? Britain's doctors are being put in charge of patient care. After 60 years of socialized medicine, this qualifies as a brilliant insight:
Doctors are to be given sole responsibility for overseeing front-line care to patients under Coalition plans described as the biggest revolution in the NHS since its foundation 60 years ago.
About £80billion will be distributed to family GPs in a move that will see strategic health authorities and primary care trusts scrapped.
The plan, contained in a white paper to be published next week, is designed to place key decisions about how patients are cared for in the hands of doctors who know them. Tens of thousands of administrative jobs in the health service will be lost as a result.
