I love the 1959 classic movie "Pillow Talk" with Rock Hudson and Doris Day. It's adorable and beautifully unpredictable. Somehow, the real life 'JayClai' isn't the same. Jay Carney and Claire Shipman are contrived, orchestrated and predictable. A White House spokesman in bed with an ABC news correspondent? Really? Umm. Not loving the premise.
"NEW YORK -- Send kids to the Sidwell Friends School, along with President Obama's two daughters. Check. Convince George W. Bush, John McCain and Al Gore to appear in a comic video poking fun at her husband's coiffure. Check.
Attend Washington's hottest book parties and inaugural balls and visit Redskins owner Dan Snyder's private box. Check.
New White House press secretary Jay Carney and ABC News correspondent Claire Shipman -- JayClai? -- meet all the criteria to be DC's newest power couple. In the hothouse world of the Beltway, populated by political insiders and journalism geeks, the duo are the closet thing to Brangelina. Society insiders are already tittering about the new dynamic, and the new parlor game at the finest dinner parties in Georgetown is
guessing how they can avoid breaking any ethical rules during pillow talk.
"Washington being Washington, it is probably correct to say they are the current power couple,"
